What is Ancient Art?

Ancient art is the start of artworks/arts. Even though it's not known as art itself at their time, but a documentary of all the things that are happening in their era, it is still an art.

Why discuss these old things? Is it connected to our arts today?

Of course before we learn other forms of art, might as well know where art came from right? Nothing's gonna be lost. 

What I like about the ancient art, is that they carve, paint, make art in everything they do. Like in some events and such. 

Now let me tell you things about some of their arts during those times. One is The Great Pyramid of Giza. That pyramid is build just and only for the tombs. But now what? It is also a form of art! An architectural art also! Isn't it cool? Some of the other arts also like the carvings on rocks and trees is not made out of own expressions of themselves or their emotions but it is just made to show what they do during those times. Ancient time arts is existing like a diary. But less of a diary. Cause you're showing your arts to people, not hiding it right? Those artworks that they do are so naturalistic and so realistic. Isn't it obvious. 


It is also the basis of all arts done by ancient people. Though works today are said to be unique and original, it is still based and is similar(well a bit) to modern art. Art evolves little by little, slowly. 


How does it connect to modern arts? It's simple. People those days are portraying things by what they see and feel. And today too. Most of our artworks are done based on how we feel at the time we're doing one right?


Knowing the history of something sure does helps us to know what to do, what not to do in the near future. c:

Week 7. "Capture it. Remember it."

That was the first thing that entered my mind. And there I agreed. Yes? A camera can capture every single moment in our lives. We can take pictures that can serve as our memory when we grow old. We can just browse browse and browse old pictures. And there we can remember our old cute, fun, hyper, whatever days. DON'T SAY YOU DON'T AGREE. Cause you do. 

- - Okay. That's for my introduction.

 Last week our professor Ms. A. Kagaoan assigned us to make a montage. She explained to us what to do. Its just like a collage but then in making it, you can see a new picture that has been created through those many tiny pictures. (That's what I've understand.) But then seeing others' montage, I got confused. Really. There I start thinking, what should I do? What should I do? 

In the montage, I include my friend's and few family pictures. Cause as I said in my last blog entry, soundtrack of my life, if my family and friends are gone, I am nothing. I am not who I am. And who knows what I am in the future. c:

Week 6. Soundtrack of My Life :)

Hi there! This is my week 6 blog entry for this semester! Not the sixth week of my blogging but uh, well whatever.  And our professor gave us an assignment. It is themed, 'the soundtrack of your life'. The first thing that came into my mind,was my family & friends.

Okay okay. Here's the vid. :D

So yeah. It is my very first video that I made. Yeah. Just me.

It doesn't look well. Uh. I'm just a beginner.

I chose the song 'Today My Life Begins 'cause I like the lyrics so much. It's inspirational. Makes me feel like when I fail and I can't get up, I must have the courage to stand up again and don't ever lose hope.

There I include my baby picture, my mother's picture. Which stand as my father too since I was 8 months old. My father's picture while carrying me. I didn't even catch a glimpse of him, but that's alright. And yeah, that's me. I know right? I look like a boy. Oh and I include my aunt's pic. too. She's one of the people who can't say I love you but can show in actions.

-- Why did I chose to put pictures of my family and friends? It's because they are all important in my life. I can't include all of the people I love cause it's limited. But then there are so many people that's important to me. In those pictures(me with my friends), that was the time when we really are enjoying life. Even though there are problems that are coming in our way, we just think of it as a challenge. Not problems. Cause if we take it as a problem it will really be a problem. Let yourself be the problem's problem.

Why choose this concept? Its because, without them, I am nothing. Without them, who am I? Am I Trixie? Am I January? Am I Felichie? Ohh well whatever. I am Trixie. At first, I am a silent person but after a while, I'm a total different person. And that will stay the way it is. Me, myself and I. C:

Week 5. A Christian's Message.

 

Did you ever hate somebody that you can't even forgive him?

Well. You better watch this and you might want to change your mind.

CHRISTIANITY. A Story Of Forgiveness.

In this vid, It tells a story about a husband being cheated on. No, cheating is not the right term but, something like that. The wife which became alcoholic, confessed to his husband that she had an affair with his best friend 10 years earlier. Now the husband's choice is to give up their relationship or stay with it. He did choose to stay cause she love her. And that's the right thing to do. If you love someone, you can forgive him/her no matter what. And you can't get angry with him cause you love him so much. Agree? That's what I see in forgiving. To be able to forgive is a very nice thing.

Most of the people can't even let others apologize to them cause of their pride. They won't allow those people apologize to them cause they hate them so much. Is that a good thing? No. NO. That's a bad thing. Even if the person committed something that makes you hate him so much, allow yourself to forgive him. That can help him reduce their problem. Less negative thoughts. Right?

Forgiveness is a gift that you can give to someone to make them feel better. :D

Week 4. Say 'NO' to Plagiarism!

What plagiarism you say? Plagiarism is a form of cheating. It's just another way of stealing someone's work. According to what I have searched in Wikipedia, plagiarism is defined in dictionaries as the "wrongful appropriation," "close imitation," or "purloining and publication" of another author's "language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions." See? It really is stealing. Making other people's original work, your work.

Just like in copying of other people's journals, etc. Then pasting in Microsoft Word then printing it. 

Look. Almost all of us commit plagiarism. Because of the easy access of information on the net. It seems like people these days are getting lazy. All they have to do is think about it(a certain topic). But then nowadays, they can't even express themselves cause they rely on the COPYING + PASTING of other people's ideas. And those are original works. Meaning, that is their thought. Is that your thought too? That's why you're copying it? Yes? But then It's still wrong.

Why don't you try using your own heads. That's the reason why God gave you a brain. It is not for you to copy other people's work. But to use your own mind and use your creativity. Connect things, think about it carefully and that will answer your questions. C:

Week 3. A Oh-so. Not So Long But Long Weekend. What?

.. Oh boy oh boy. Long weekend?! Sigh. Boredom took over!

I had a 5 long days weekend last week. And what I can say, it's boring. YEAH. Most of the student, especially those who're in High School thinks that a long weekend sure is fun. Computer! Texting! Malling! ... Not really. A long weekend always ends up being boring. Instead of being fun.


Why? So bored you don't know what to do. So bored you're being lazy already. So bored- . Yeah.


ONE! Makes students lazy~
 > It really does affect us students too! Think about it. Being on the last day of the long weekend, students feel like. "Oh man.. Monday. Again!" There is this one I found on Facebook, it says 'Bakit yung Monday and layo sa Saturday. Tapos yung Saturday ang lapit sa Monday'. It made me think. "Yeah. I agree. Cool." And in mind, "argh.. Im tired of waking up eeeevry Monday." And of course I think about that too! Why oh why. But then, you have no choice but to get up early on Mondays eh?


TWO! Assignments, and other stuffs already left our minds~
Yeah. They enjoy too much sometimes in those long weekends. That it reached to the point that students forget about their homeworks, projects, etc. And also the lectures they learned the past week. And when they attend their next class and is called for the recitation, they cannot answer. 


THREE! Makes students think about not attending classes the next day.
Uh huh. As I said, Mondays. Laziness. ASDFGHJKL!!

Maybe a 3 day long is enough. Not 5 days. -.-
Being bored as hell makes me wanna sleep all day, all night.

Week 2. First Time 'Linggo ng Wika' at Lyceum.

Linggo ng Wika. "What?" Linggo ng Wika is an event that we, Filipinos celebrate every year in the month of August. "Oh." Its just like a tradition already. Having poster making contests, 'Lakan at Lakambini', folk dance, etc.

Last Friday(August 26, 2011), Lyceum of the Philippines - Laguna celebrated the Linggo ng Wika. And it was my first time attending this celebration here in LPU. And that day, is the only day that I attended the event. I was absent last Wednesday which is the day of presentation of my classmates in Folk Dance. I didn't manage to attend cause I have a fever. Also Thursday(Still resting.) And! The participants came from the different colleges. Isn't it cool? :))

That time, what I first saw is my classmates, making our booth look more beautiful and representable. I like how they displayed the CD cases. And that roll as a design. That's cool. Really.


Even though I didn't managed to watch my classmates presentation, I am proud of them. They really did their best. And they put a lot of effort in it, by just seeing their costumes and props, and the way they fix themselves, you can see it already. Maybe next year, I'll be able to attend ALL of the events of the Linggo ng Wika. :D

Week 1. Job Well Done?

No, not yet! It's been 2 months and 7 days since the start of the school. I can still remember my first feeling when the first day of school came. I was scared and I dunno what to do when a person talked to me. But now, I can feel comfortable with the people around me and in the environment. At first, really, I was like. OHMY. Cause I am not fond of talking to people I don't know. But as soon as we get together, I feel safe and satisfied with them.


The first half of our 1st semester in our college life was difficult. Besides that, it's FUN! Really fun. And it seems like, there's no day, no time that we didn't cry. Cause of laughing of course! Together with my new friends. They are so fun to be with. Well, for the difficult part, the projects. But we did overcome our fears and shared thoughts, ideas to others. And with that, all of our projects are all done well. Now we have a new grouping, new group mates, new thoughts, and new ideas, I guess it would be more fun.


Being a multimedia arts student is a real fun. The second year students are very fun to be with. They make jokes that makes our tummy hurt, looks like going to cry in laughter. Well that's life. Enjoyment. Sacrifice. Difficult. Just like what my best friend in my high school days says, "Sacrifice before paradise." We sacrifice now, so tomorrow will be our paradise! ~

Do new technologies change -
How we access information?


Of course YES! Just take a look at how news spread in the internet. We almost not need those newspapers delivered everyday by the guys in a bicycle, or by foot. We don't need to buy papers and other stuffs to know what's going on. There(by using technologies and the net), we can also choose what is it that we want to read about by just clicking into the links to view more about a certain topic. Not just in news! It helps us also in our researches, homework, etc. By just clicking enter after typing a topic on Google, there are so many results. Even if just typing the keywords and phrases, etc, that even a word that is related to the title, it will pop out. There we go! Copy paste. Copy paste. But that's not a good thing to do. That can only serve as our inspiration. For new ideas to come up with. Not for us to copy and paste for our homework. But sometimes, what's on the internet, is really the main topic. You don't need to change cause its already there.


The type of information upon which we rely?

YES. In the past, we rely on the books in the library. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlas, etc. We spend time just to search for this book for this certain topic. But now, it's getting rare that people use books. Just like me, I use Google for my homework. Wikipedia too. Because almost all of the information I/we need is there. It's almost complete! Even though other topic is not yet posted there. Even you guys use these right? And we can find the results in a short period of time! Boom! Its there.

While I am searching for pictures, I saw this one. And then an eyebrow raised. I was like. "Uh-huh.". "If this is a novel, how many years am I going to finish this? How many chapters are there?!" Something like that. If it is about all the information around the globe, I'm sure it will took time to find a certain topic. Even if there is this table of contents. You'll get confused and you'll panic. You'll lost hope and will end up using the internet for the research. Bang! Change of access of information.


How we communicate with each other?


YES. Look, people use social-networking sites just like Facebook to connect and communicate to each other. By using their laptops/PC when they are at home. And others are using their cellular phones that are Wifi ready if they are somewhere in town, in malls, etc. Or by just sending text messages or by calling each other.


Does new media limit or expand our personal freedom?


For me, new media expand and limits our personal freedom. Look, just like in social networking sites, we can just post whatever we like. Something that we feel at that moment. But not all of it. Of course we must limit ourselves too. Imagine, you post all of the things you want to put there. And other's feelings were hurt, etc. Also, don't put too much personal things out there. Stalkers may come and stalk you!!!

Though people do many advances in technology,
it's not a whole success. Cause most of the students become lazy, and less motivated. And is always thinking about sitting there

facing their technologies when they are bored. Instead of

studying or making their homework. Come to think of it,
do studying and doing homework even pop into their minds?

The Social Media Revolution.

Have you ever think to yourself how much people are using the net at that exact moment in your life?

Well. Today, we watched two videos about the Social Media. And there I realized, there are so many users of the net around the globe! They log in everyday like it's their life. Like, my day can't start without logging in to my accounts. Yeah, accounts. It says there also that adults use the net 13+ hours a day. In the video, it said that the 4th most visited website is youtube. And every second, there are 2-3 accounts activated. 100% photo uploads increased in Facebook. 50% active users everyday. Also 83% of companies use Facebook too. For their advertisements and etc. Imagine how many people are getting hooked on the net. Even grandmothers and other oldies use the net too! Especially Facebook. They use it to communicate with their children that are working abroad.

In the second video, they compared the Social Media in an ice cream. And there, the thing that I understand is that if you start to make a business/new media and share it to others and the other liked it as well, they will make another and it will be popular and there, they will spread it. The business will spread and there will be a lot of branches, models, etc in communication. More people will talk about it and if they liked it as well, they will tell them to others and continuously.

The Social Media will spread like ants when you blow in them some air. And it spread in a blink of an eye.

Are you contented being average? Or do you want to excel?

Mediocrity refers to the state or quality of being mediocre. Being average, normal, indifferent, with a moderate ability. Just like most of the students today. Especially in making projects, assignments, etc. They always say, "Ayos na 'to, at least meron diba?". But then, for me, It's like being lazy, like, they don't want to do more. They don't strive for more. They want to stay in the middle, being average. Then after seeing the results, they will regret that they didn't do their best because other's work is a lot better and they feel sorry for themselves.


If you're a student, especially when you are a college student, you need to persevere. You're in the next level of life. Everybody needs to excel in their profession. To gain more knowledge. To be able to survive life. And if you want to, you must know how to play the game of life. Even if you don't want to, you don't have an option. Just go with the flow and do what you're supposed to do.

And always remember. Don't be contented with just being mediocre. Give your best and strive for excellence.  

The Future of Communication - O_O

Horray for telepathic communication! .. As if that's gonna happen. But who knows.

Years passed, the way of people's communication gets more and more high tech. They always use their high tech cellphones and high tech laptops, etc. And also, even if they're talking to each other face to face, they will say, "Just message it to me later okay?". But, isn't face to face communication is a lot more easier than written. You too can consume time. And can understand each other clearly.

This and that. "Oh hey I want those! No. That one! Uhm. Well whatever, I'll take them all!"

Most of the people around the world, is hooked on technologies, gadgets. They want their gadgets more high tech than what they have now. So yeah. Last friday(July 22, 2011), we watched a video about the future of communication. My reaction is just like. o_o. Uh-huh. I think that its not good for us. As for now, teenagers and other people are getting hooked on the net and is relying online. As soon as they wake up early in the morning, they open their computer and then surf the net. Others do not sleep and is online the whole day. Yeah. WHOLE DAY. And so if after many years, and technology is more high tech than ever, I think it will be a  big disadvantage. People will be lazy and will always rely on the net.

But then when you think of it, it would be great too. Having high tech things around. It makes out job easier than ever. And communication will be easier. Especially when using the net.

This or That?

So, here's the question. Which of the 5 presentations do I like best? For me, everybody did a great job in our first video presentation. Everybody did put a lot of effort and time in their work. But there is this one video presentation that caught my attention. It was Kuya Andz'. While watching their presentation, I just laughed and enjoyed watching it. The views/angles of the camera is great. And the way they edited their video and the way they presented the topic.

But then, I also like our own video presentation. First of all, its our group's. It is called Stop-Motion. And it was my first time experiencing making one. I enjoyed the moment when we're still on the process making it. And of course the moment we finished it and watched it. Our group is unique cause we're the only one who decided to make the presentation not by video involving taping and etc.

Well this is our first group project and I am expecting for more. More fun. More bonding time while working and while having fun. :D

Traffic and Life of a Student.

Start of the day, you'll wake up. You step out of your bed and look outside the window. Yawning and thinking, "Whaaa ~ Such a nice start of the day." But then as soon as you looked back and saw your clock, its already late!!

I hate traffic. It is one of the problems of the people, including me almost everyday. Especially when your home is far away from your school. Riding the bus for an hour or 2. You'll get pissed too right? And at times when you are rushing in the morning. Gonna be late for your class or job that day. Especially on Mondays. And Fridays too! Its because when people travel to be home on the weekends. 

And there is this thing that helps us to be in order.

For us to stay in order, there is what they call the traffic lights.

The traffic light which is also known as stoplights, traffic signals, etc. are signalling devices positioned at road intersections to control the traffic. The signalling colors are red, which means stop. Orange, slow down. And Green for go.

In life, we can also say that the red, symbolizes to stop what we're doing that is wrong. If you have any problems, think about how to pass it. It's only God's challenge for us to get over with. And to think about it carefully. Don't rush things. Be patient(Orange). And when the time comes you lost hope and is already thinking about giving up, don't lose faith, just go and have the courage to finish what you started. Then move to the next level(Green).

Graffiti Party!

That was my first time attending a Graffiti party. At first, I am thinking that, its kind of boring. Watching other students dance, sing, etc. But then after an hour or two, I am enjoying it myself. Also the others, just by looking at their faces. Their smile, their laugh. They already got their pens ready to sign on other's shirts!

I took more pictures but I don't wanna post it all here. XD

I left the party because its already that late and my mother picked me up for me not to be alone, riding the bus. And of course I left after I watched our section's presentation. Once I got home, I changed to my sleeping clothes and pounces on the pillow. After a couple of minutes, there I lay, asleep. But still, I enjoyed the party. It was really AWESOME. As in. YEAH.

Internet is a global system if interconnected computer networks hat we use the standard internet protocol suite to serve of users worldwide. Internet world stats is a useful source for e-commerce stats, online international markets research, the latest internet statistics, broadband and penetration data, word population statistics and telecommunications markets information and reports.

As of 2011, it says that the most internet users are in Asia with 44.0%.  Followed by Europe, 22.7%. Then North America with 13.0%. Lat/Am/Caribb with 10.3%. In africa, 5.7%. Middle east, 3.3%. And Oceana/Australia with the least number of internet users, with 1.0%.

At first I was not shocked knowing Asia has the most internet users. Come to think of it, only just in Philippines, we have so many users who are addicted in Facebook and twitter. And other sites such as tumblr, etc.  But then, some use the internet, for selling stuffs online and to connect with their loved once abroad. With the most number of teenagers who are addicted to online games and other social networking sites, don't be shocked if after a couple of years, the numbers of users will increase.

One of the reasons why I have chosen Lyceum as

my school is because it is the nearest school that offers Multimedia Arts course. At first, I thought that it will be hard for me to be in a new school because I've been to Canossa College for 12 years. But I guess I'm wrong. Being in Lyceum makes me feel comfortable. Not that comfortable yet. But maybe after a couple of weeks, I'll be.
